In spring, the direct flights between Vilnius and Tbilisi will be launched

At the beginning of this April, Vilnius Airport will start operating one more route – after a gap of a decade there will be direct flights to Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. The airline Georgian Airways will carry passengers to this city three times a week.

According to Aurimas Stikliunas, Head of Aviation Services at Lithuanian Airports, this new route is very important both for the business and the tourism.

“Lithuanians have already included Georgia to their favorite routes list, and now this country will become even more approachable. The air transportation between two capitals will be meaningful strategically in order to continue strengthening and developing business connection and amplifying the number of passengers. The demand for flights to Georgia has rapidly boosted in recent years, therefore I believe that the new route will receive positive feedback from our clients,“ says the aviation expert.

Passengers will be able to fly the route Vilnius-Tbilisi three times a week, on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, from April 2th. Georgian Airways will offer to use an aircraft of Embraer 190, Boeing 737-700  and CR-100  type . The flight from one capital to another will last about 3 hours.

The Tbilisi International airport is about 15 kilometers from the center and the city`s connections are well developed. From the capital of Georgia, travelers can reach the popular Gudauri and Bakuriani ski slopes in winter, Kakheti region, famous for its vineyards, or Borjomi resort in summer.

Georgian Airways as a leading air company in Georgia established in September 1993 and for now it transports around 800 000 passengers annually with round trips and has direct flights to 25 countries. The focus of the airline is to provide safe and reliable passenger and cargo air transportation with great customer service.

By launching a new route Vilnius-Tbilisi, Georgian Airways took one of the measures of Lithuanian Airports to promote route development, the financial de minimis aid.
